Your jewelry is your proud statement piece and a beautiful treasure.
Proper care ensures your pieces remain as stunning as the day you first tried them on.
Below is a basic care guide to protect your fine jewelry and preserve its brilliance for the years to come.
* This guide does not replace checks by a professional under a microscope. We recommend bringing your jewelry in every 3-4 months for a complimentary jewelry inspection and cleaning using our professional equipment to ensure the integrity of your metal and stones.
General jewelry care:
- Store each piece of jewelry separately: Keep each item individually in a soft pouch, small plastic bag, or jewelry box to avoid scratching one another.
- Avoid chemicals: Remove jewelry before swimming, sitting in hot tubs, household cleaning, or applying perfume or lotion as it can harm the stone or metal.
- Light cleaning at home: Wipe gently with a soft cloth before storing.
- Avoid wearing while doing heavy work: Working out at the gym, landscaping, gardening, and household chores can be hard on rings and other jewelry.
- Regular checks: Inspect clasps, settings, and prongs for damage.
- If something feels different, take it off and bring it into the store for inspection.
Necklaces
- Prevent knots: Clasp your necklace before storing individually by laying or hanging flat.
- If there is a knot, bring it in for one of us to happily work the knot out without breaking the chain.
- Chain checks: Feel for breaks and check clasps regularly
- Remove before sleeping: Necklaces can twist overnight weakening, stretching, or breaking links.
Diamond care
- Gentle cleaning: Fill a small bowl with warm soapy water and a few drops of mild dish soap. Place your diamond jewelry in. Using a soft new toothbrush to gently brush stones is optional. Place lid on bowl to soak items if desired.
- Avoid buildup: Put jewelry on after lotion, hairspray, and oils to avoid dulling their sparkle.
Pearls
- Last on, First off: Apply perfumes and cosmetics before wearing pearls.
- Wipe after each wear: Pearls absorb oils. Gently wipe with a soft, clean cloth after each use.
- Bring in for checking regularly: We can check if the strand needs restringing.
Gemstone care
- Know your stone: Different gemstones have different hardness levels. What's safe for one stone may damage another.
- Avoid direct sunlight: Prolonged sun exposure can fade or alter the color of some stones. Store in a dark and dry box or drawer.
- Keep stones dry: Different cleaners, perfumes, and even water can harm some stones.
